Fitted Bedsheets with Elastic: Sizes and Measurements Guide
A fitted sheet is only as good as its fit. Here are common Indian mattress sizes and how to specify depth and elastic.

Fitted bedsheets are one of the easiest winter products to sell, because customers immediately see the benefit: the sheet stays in place. But a fitted sheet that is the wrong size leads to returns. Here is how to get the sizing right.
Common Indian mattress sizes
| Size | Inches | Approx. cm |
|---|---|---|
| Single | 36 × 75 | 90 × 190 |
| Double | 60 × 75 | 150 × 190 |
| Queen | 60 × 78 | 150 × 198 |
| King | 72 × 78 | 183 × 198 |
Sizes vary between mattress makers, so always confirm the sizes your customers use most.
Mattress depth matters
Indian mattresses range from thin cotton mattresses to thick spring and foam mattresses. The fitted sheet's pocket depth must be a little more than the mattress depth so the elastic can tuck under. Ask for sheets made for your customers' most common mattress depth, or stock two depth options.
Elastic all around vs corner elastic
Some fitted sheets have elastic only at the corners. Sheets with elastic all around the edge grip the mattress more evenly, stay smoother and are easier to put on. They are the better choice for retail.
Polar fleece vs flano fitted sheets
Polar fleece fitted sheets add warmth from below, which customers notice on cold nights. Flano fitted sheets feel more like regular sheets, with a soft brushed surface. Both are available in solids and prints.
