Mink Blankets Buyer's Guide

Mink blankets are thick, soft, heavily printed blankets that remain popular in South Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Despite the name, they contain no animal fur: the "mink" refers to the soft, dense pile. If you import or distribute blankets, this guide will help you specify your order clearly.

What is a mink blanket made of?

Most mink blankets are made from polyester (acrylic is also used), with a raised, brushed pile that feels dense and plush. They are printed in bold patterns: florals, animals, geometric and embossed designs.

Single ply vs double ply

Single ply blankets are one layer of fabric. They are lighter and lower in price.

Double ply blankets are two layers joined together, often with a different design on each side. They are heavier, warmer and feel more premium.

Weight

Blanket weight is the most important specification after ply. Heavier blankets feel more luxurious and are warmer, but cost more to produce and ship. Agree the weight per piece with your supplier and check it on the sample.

Sizes

Common sizes are single, double, queen and king. Markets differ, so share the sizes that sell best in your country.

Packing for export
